Caroline Wazer is an assignments editor based in Central New York. Prior to joining Snopes she was an editor at Lapham’s Quarterly, where she led the magazine’s internal fact-checking program for six years and wrote about topics including the representation of history in video games. Her writing has appeared in The Atlantic, JSTOR Daily, Atlas Obscura and the Public Domain Review. Before she began working in media, she completed a Ph.D in history; her dissertation was about the emergence of public health as a political concept in ancient Rome. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, kayaking and painting.
