The rumor mill has never stopped churning about disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein despite — or perhaps because of — his death by suicide while in custody in 2019.
Since U.S. President Donald Trump assumed his second term in office, rumors about Epstein and Trump's friendship have surged. In September 2025, following the release of a purported sexually suggestive birthday letter to Epstein signed by Trump, rumors about the two flew again.
For instance, Snopes investigated claims that Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell confirmed Epstein had "secret tapes" of Trump, and that the president ordered a military flyover to "silence" Epstein survivors during a news conference the victims held on Sept. 3, 2025.
