Cyber Monday

One of the busiest shopping days of the year is also one of the most overhyped.

The endless lines of people wrapped around big box stores. The midnight store openings. The stampedes of shoppers willing to hock their humanity for a deal on a flat screen. It's all beginning to feel like a relic of the past. These days many shoppers begin holiday shopping long before the last week of November, according to the National Retail Federation, with some retailers rolling out Black Friday deals around Halloween.

Or maybe it's all not a relic. Despite endless offerings available online, millions of shoppers are expected to descend on stores and malls on Black Friday 2019. If you must be one of them, here's hoping you avoid any incident that requires fact-checking.

And if talk of crazed consumerism has put you off shopping for now, you might consider supporting one of your favorite online publishers instead. Ahem.
