Bruce Springsteen Cancels North Carolina Concert Over 'Bathroom Law'

The "Born in the U.S.A." singer is the subject of many rumors — some true, some not.

Singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen made headlines in May 2025 when, during concert in Manchester, England, he called the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump "corrupt, incompetent and treasonous." After Trump fired back with a Truth Social post (archived) calling Springsteen "dumb as a rock" and telling him to "KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country," Springsteen repeated his criticism of the president during a subsequent concert.

Springsteen has never been one to shy away from political topics. His 1984 hit "Born in the U.S.A.," for example, tells of the disillusionment and alienation a Vietnam War veteran faces on his return to the U.S. But that doesn't mean all politics-related rumors involving Springsteen are true.

Here's a selection of past claims we've investigated about Springsteen.
