On April 28, 2025, Canadians will vote in federal elections. At the time of this writing, Reuters reported that the Liberal party, led by current Prime Minister Mark Carney, were leading in the polls ahead of the Conservative party.
Carney has been at the center of several rumors we've fact-checked. Some such claims included whether he's related to former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau through marriage (false), if the prime minister plagiarized his economics thesis (difficult to say) and whether he once wrote, "Western society is morally rotten and has been corrupted by capitalism" (false).
