Here's How Countries in Conflict, Like Iran and the US, Still Talk to Each Other

Featured on Snopes today: Facebook's sponsored content sets off a comedy of errors at Teen Vogue, a giant, swimming spider goes viral on social media, and more!

by Snopes Staff, Jan. 9, 2020

Teen Vogue deleted a post from its website earlier this week after a comedy of errors related to the article’s status as “sponsored content” — i.e., a paid advertisement.

Titled “How Facebook Is Helping Ensure the Integrity of the 2020 Election,” the post went through several revisions, first carrying no advertising disclosure at all, then one was added, then it was removed, and at one point the article boasted the byline of a freelance writer who said she didn’t write it. Finally, the entire post was deleted.

Bethania Palma recounts the rough sequence of events and how Teen Vogue responded when asked to explain the odd gaffe.
