Word of Kobe Bryant’s untimely death in a helicopter crash on Sunday prompted scores of inquiries from readers, including questions about a disparaging remark the former NBA star allegedly once made about U.S. President Donald Trump.

“A #POTUS whose name alone creates division and anger. Whose words inspire dissension and hatred can’t possibly ‘Make America Great Again,'” reads a tweet attributed to Bryant in 2017.
