Not long after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the death of IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, an old and persistent rumor re-emerged to the effect that he had once been in U.S. custody but was set free during the Obama administration.

The implication, of course, is that Obama was therefore at least partially responsible for the actions of al-Baghdadi and his terrorist organization. But was he, in fact, released from U.S. custody during Obama’s tenure? Dan Evon reports.
