Costco 'Anniversary' $75 Coupon Scam

Featured on Snopes today: Follow-up coverage of the Epoch Times-linked, pro-Trump media empire The BL, and the return of the Dwayne Johnson death hoax.

by Snopes Staff, March 12, 2012

Following up on last month’s investigation of connections between the controversial Falun Gong-linked newspaper The Epoch Times and pro-Trump media network The BL, Snopes has uncovered hundreds of fake personal Facebook accounts operating BL-associated Facebook groups.

These groups, many of which have their origins in Vietnam or other foreign countries, share conservative, pro-Trump, “pro-America” content aimed explicitly at a U.S. audience. Though they all appear to be in flagrant violation of Facebook’s rules against engaging in “coordinated inauthentic behavior,” it remains to be seen what action, if any, the company will take to address these activities.
