Netanyahu is alive, despite rumors he was killed by Iranian missile

Snopes has monitored misinformation surrounding the war since it began in late February 2026.

On June 15, 2026, after months of a tentative ceasefire agreement, the United States and Iran reportedly reached an interim deal aimed at ending the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Multiple reputable news outlets, such as The Associated Press and Reuters, reported on the possible deal, though its details are unconfirmed.

Snopes has monitored misinformation surrounding the war since it began in late February 2026. The fighting has killed thousands of people in the Middle East and triggered what the AP has dubbed a historic energy crisis

Below is a sample of that fact-checking, including investigations into U.S. military troops' and leaders' alleged protests, President Donald Trump's comments about Iran's leadership and the war's death toll.
