Jeff Bezos Revokes Donald Trump's Amazon Shopping Privileges
The Amazon founder has faced scrutiny about everything from politics to the working conditions at his company.

Long before there was Prime Day or Prime Video, Jeff Bezos was a product manager for a bank selling software products. When he left to found Amazon in 1994, the internet was just beginning to change the way customers shopped and communicated. Now, in 2026, Bezos is one of the wealthiest — and most controversial — figures in the world.
With success comes scrutiny, and Snopes has received requests to fact-check a variety of claims involving Bezos himself , in addition to Amazon as a company. We've looked into rumors that popular musicians such as Dolly Parton and John Legend removed their music from Amazon, citing Bezos' ties to U.S. President Donald Trump.
We also investigated a rumor that Bezos encouraged corporate culture that told Amazon employees to "wake up terrified" and even did the math on the popular claim that Bezos is so rich he could give everybody $1 billion .
