U.S. President Donald Trump has railed against mail-in ballots since he began falsely claiming he lost the 2020 election to former President Joe Biden due to fraud.
Snopes has fact-checked numerous claims made by the president and his supporters about the security of mail-in ballots, such as whether mail-in ballots "substantially increase" chances of voter fraud and whether California "lost" 10 million mail-in ballots in 2022.
In March 2026, Trump's decision to vote by mail in a Florida election made headlines amid his push to get Congress to heavily restrict mail-in ballots. Snopes previously confirmed that Trump has a history of voting by mail.
