On Feb. 4, 2022, the 2022 Winter Olympics will begin in Beijing. Here's a graphic depicting the games' schedule over the course of weeks, designed by The Associated Press (AP):

As the world watches, rumors about the event's some 2,900 athletes and numerous competitions will likely surface online.

We, in the Snopes newsroom, have seen the media trend before. Before and during the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, for instance, we debunked a viral rumor that athletes had to sleep on “anti-sex” beds in the Olympic Village, as well as a claim that city officials had set off fireworks early because they supposedly could no longer store them.
