U.S. President Donald Trump isn't the first commander-in-chief to donate his presidential salary.

U.S. President Donald Trump often remarks about the fact that he donates his presidential salary, and on Oct. 21, 2019, he said during a press conference that he was the only president to do so. "They say that no other president has done it," Trump stated.
Although it's true Trump gives away his $400,000 presidential salary, he is not the first president to do so. Here's a closer look at the issue of presidential salaries.
