Do 10 Percent of College Grads Think Judge Judy Is on the Supreme Court?

U.S. Supreme Court justices are often the subject of online speculation.

In this photo collage, nine Supreme Court justices' headshots are collaged together in front of a blurred background of the Supreme Court building, a white Roman pillar-style structure.

As the highest judicial power in the U.S., the Supreme Court has issued monumental decisions affecting millions of Americans over centuries. At the same time, the institution is famously secretive compared to other parts of the government.

As a result, rumors often spread about the court's rulings and justices.

For example, Snopes has previously looked into whether a Supreme Court ruling made a sitting president immune from prosecution for ordering parts of the military to kill a political opponent. We've also fact-checked various quotes attributed to Supreme Court justices, such as a pro-segregation remark made by a former Ku Klux Klan leader that social media users incorrectly attached to Justice Neil Gorsuch

Find a collection of stories investigating what's true, false and undetermined below.
