Misleading Rumor Claims Trump Admin Found 75K-80K 'Missing' Migrant Children

We dug through our archives after Trump dispatched Homan to Minneapolis to oversee the administration's self-described immigration crackdown there.

Deemed America's "border czar" by U.S. President Donald Trump's administration, Tom Homan was catapulted into the national spotlight in 2025 thanks to Trump's self-described immigration crackdown. Homan has been a mainstay on cable news throughout Trump's second term, responding to questions about the administration's increasingly aggressive immigration enforcement tactics. 

As Snopes has previously reported, Homan started as a Border Patrol agent in the '80s and moved to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when the federal government created the agency in 2003. He held leadership roles with ICE during former President Barack Obama's administration, and that work earned him the Presidential Rank Award for distinguished service in 2015.

After Trump dispatched Homan to Minneapolis in early 2025 — as opposition to the administration's immigration crackdown there grew — Snopes dug through its archives to compile various rumors about the Trump official, listed below.
