U.S. President Donald Trump has questioned the integrity of U.S. elections for years, repeatedly promoting false or unsupported claims about how Americans register, cast ballots and count votes. Many of those claims intensified after he lost the 2020 presidential election to former President Joe Biden.

He also called mail-in ballots "inherently corrupt" and urged Congress to pass new voting restrictions ahead of the midterm elections.
