Trump flaunted mostly accurate chart comparing reflecting pool to US skyscrapers

President Donald Trump put a spotlight on the reflecting pool in spring 2026.

On March 31, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump posted to his Truth Social account that he was "working on fixing the absolutely filthy Reflecting Pool" that spans roughly 2,000 feet between the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Trump kept the focus on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool over the ensuing months. The White House published multiple videos about the work on the reflecting pool, which was finished in June. Within a week, algae filled the pool and there were reports of the new blue paint peeling off the bottom.
