Snopes has been fact-checking rumors about the U.S.-Mexico border wall since U.S. President Donald Trump made it a central part of his campaign's immigration policy in 2016.
We've fact-checked numerous claims about the hundreds of miles of fencing along the southern border, including whether Trump's plan for the wall would result in a huge payout for a Russian oligarch and if a butterfly sanctuary might be in danger of being bulldozed to build the barrier.
Rumors about the wall aren't solely related to Trump. For example, we looked into a claim that Minnesota governor and former 2020 Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz said he would invest in a "ladder factory" to help migrants get over the border wall.
