About this rating

In August 2025, rumors circulated online claiming that Britain's Queen Camilla was banished from royal residences after King Charles III allegedly discovered her having an affair and stealing royal jewelry, including pieces that belonged to Princess Diana.

For example, one YouTube channel posted (archived) a video on Aug. 7, titled, "Queen Camilla THROWN OUT of Palace After King Charles Caught Her Infidelity | Then and Now 2026."

The narration began:

During the coronation ceremony as King Charles and Queen Camilla made their way from the throne to the exit of Westminster Abbey, something striking caught the eye of many. While everyone bowed to the king, there was a noticeable stillness when Camilla passed by. Not a single person moved, no arm raised, no muscle twitched. This silent moment speaks volumes about the deep seated resentment and anger. Some people still harbor towards Camilla. It's a twist no one could have predicted.

Queen Camilla once crowned beside Charles, now faces disgrace as she's thrown out of the palace. Caught in a scandalous affair with a former royal aid and entangled in the theft of Princess Diana's jewels. Her double betrayal has rocked the royal family to its very foundation. King Charles devastated and furious, wasted no time in taking decisive action. The woman who once made Charles sacrifice everything has now crossed an unforgivable line both personally and royally. What began as quiet whispers has culminated in her exile, the truth is now out. Camilla not only betrayed Charles, but also the crown itself. This time there's no coming back for her through the Palace Gates, the secret that rock the monarchy has been exposed. If you are eager to learn more about this shocking tale, leave a comment with the number one and let's dive into these earth shattering revelations together.

The narration continued with detailed scenarios including alleged surveillance photographs dated May 2025, claims about missing royal heirlooms including Princess Diana's jewelry, supposed palace confrontations and technical details about vault access codes and security systems.

Similar claims appeared elsewhere on YouTube (archived, archived, archived) with nearly identical content. Snopes readers also emailed us to ask if the claims were true.

The story was fabricated.

Searches of Bing (archived), DuckDuckGo (archived) and Google produced no results from any news media outlets reporting on a story about Queen Camilla being expelled from the palace for having an affair or stealing jewelry. Prominent news media outlets would have widely reported such developments if they were true.

We have reached out to the Royal communications team about these allegations and will update the story if we receive a response.

Recent joint appearances

Searches of Getty Images showed that the king and the queen were visiting the Sandringham Flower Show 2025 together at Sandringham House on July 23, 2025, in King's Lynn, England. Additionally, according to the royal family's official website, Queen Camilla's page remains active, listing her current royal duties and patronages. This contradicted claims that she had been expelled from royal appearances.

Current royal living arrangements

The couple was not living in Buckingham Palace, as of this writing, due to a 10-year, £369 million refurbishment. According to the BBC (archived), the king and queen split their time between Clarence House in London and Highgrove in Gloucestershire.

Pattern of AI-Generated Content

The YouTube video making these claims contained multiple indicators of fabricated content.

The narration included promotional language and calls-to-action typical of YouTube content creators, such as "If you are eager to learn more about this shocking tale, leave a comment with the number one." The narration also followed a uniform narrative structure typical of AI-generated storytelling, with seamless transitions between complex fictional scenarios without natural speech patterns.

The rumor about the king and the queen also shared elements with another fabricated story Snopes previously debunked, which claimed Tom Cruise walked off "The View" after Joy Behar questioned him about Scientology.
