Context

The user's mention of a baggie of cocaine referenced a July 2023 incident in which U.S. Secret Service agents found drugs in the West Wing lobby — an area heavily trafficked by staff and tour groups. The Associated Press reported an FBI crime analysis failed to find fingerprints or DNA, and officials never identified a suspect.

In early June 2026, social media users shared an alleged screenshot of an X post showing Hunter Biden — the son of former U.S. President Joe Biden — making a remark about drug use. According to the purported screenshot, an X user referenced a July 2023 incident in which Secret Service agents found a baggie of cocaine in a White House common area, saying, "That was your bag of coke in the White House." Biden then supposedly responded, "It most definitely was not. I would never have forgotten my drugs."

For example, on June 1, a Reddit user posted (archived) the alleged screenshot with the caption, "Yes, this is actually Hunter Biden!" Reverse image searches located other users sharing the rumor on Bluesky (archived), Reddit (archived) and X (archived).

In short, Biden truly posted this, so we've rated this a correct attribution.

The exchange began with a June 1 video (archived) on X in which he announced living free of drugs and alcohol for seven years. In his message, he thanked people for messaging him with kind words, adding, "I'm more proud of that than anything I've ever done in my life, and I just want everybody to know that is still out there sick and suffering there's a way out, and that way out is together."

Among the many responses to his post, the aforementioned user challenged Biden on reaching the seven-year mark, replying, "Bulls***. That was your bag of coke in the White House."

Biden responded: "It most definitely was not. I would never have forgotten my drugs." The user who challenged Biden then posted, "Haha."

On July 2, 2023, Secret Service discovered the cocaine in the West Wing lobby, which The Associated Press reported is heavily trafficked not only by staff but also tour groups. The AP later reported that the FBI failed to find fingerprints or DNA, and that officials never identified a suspect.

For further reading, we previously examined a rumor in which users falsely alleged a video showed Hunter Biden dragging a woman back to a room in a hotel hallway.
