In late February 2026, a claim circulated online that pop star Katy Perry and former Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau were pregnant with twins.

The claim also circulated on Facebook (archived), Instagram (archived) and TikTok (archived). Snopes readers wrote in to ask if the claim was true.
In short, the rumor was fictional. It originated from a social media account that describes its output as being humorous or satirical.
Searches of Google, Yahoo, Bing and DuckDuckGo did not return results for credible news reports supporting the claim (archived, archived, archived, archived). If Perry and Trudeau had really announced a pregnancy, journalists with reputable news outlets would have widely reported on it, and those search inquiries would have uncovered such evidence. That was not the case.
As of this writing, Perry also had not posted a pregnancy announcement on any of her social media accounts.
The X account @HoopsCrave first shared the false claim about Perry and Trudeau being pregnant with twins on Feb. 23, 2026 (archived). Its bio (archived) states that it's a parody account.
Several celebrity and gossip outlets also reported in late February 2026 that Perry wasn't pregnant.
We contacted the @HoopsCrave X account to ask about its post regarding Perry's alleged pregnancy. We also reached out to representatives for Perry and Trudeau about the rumor. We will update this story if we receive responses.
Some versions of the claim included what appeared to be an ultrasound image of twins. However, a reverse image search revealed it is a stock photo (archived) dated May 22, 2014, which predates the false rumor about Perry's pregnancy by more than a decade. It was unclear whether the stock photo originally depicted a real pregnancy in 2014.
The claims also included a photo of Perry and Trudeau that Perry posted (archived) on Instagram in early December 2025. Perry captioned the post, "tokyo times on tour and more," and did not use it to announce a pregnancy.
Claims about Perry's potential pregnancy — though not specifically with twins — circulated throughout February 2026 after the gossip and celebrity site Heatworld published an article (archived) titled, "Katy Perry: 'I'm having Justin Trudeau's baby'" in late January. According to the article, Perry wasn't pregnant yet but was reportedly talking to Trudeau about having children.
Later reporting from the magazine Cosmopolitan (archived) and British tabloid the Daily Mail (archived) also claimed Perry wasn't pregnant but that the couple was "not against" having children together in the future. The reports from Heatworld, Cosmopolitan and the Daily Mail relied on anonymous "insider" sources. Snopes does not rely on anonymous sources for our reporting.
Perry and Trudeau both have children from previous relationships. Trudeau shares two sons and a daughter with his ex-wife, while Perry shares a daughter with her ex-fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom.
