Claims that Grammy Award-nominated musician Lana Del Rey and actor Lindsay Lohan appeared together as teenagers in an advertisement for clothing retailer Abercrombie & Fitch have circulated online for years.
The claim that Lana Del Rey and Lindsay Lohan appeared together as teenagers in an Abercrombie & Fitch ad is true. The photo in question appeared on an Abercrombie & Fitch shopping bag, according to Del Rey.
The musician posted the photo to Instagram (archived) in 2021 and wrote, "Me and Lindsay Lohan on a bag when they did a local Abercrombie recruit for kids." Del Rey's post appeared to be the start of the photo's circulation online. A reverse-image search on Google showed no results earlier than 2021.
In a 2023 TikTok video (archived) for Harper's Bazaar, Del Rey recalled, "We preserved the shopping bag where it's me and Lindsay Lohan. And my sister is on it too. We were very excited because also Lindsay went to school with my cousins and at the time they were all in the same play, 'Cinderella.' So all I wanted to do was go up and tell her, 'you're in the school play with my cousin Maggie Megear!' But I didn't, I played it cool. Even at 13."

If Del Rey, born in 1985, was indeed 13 at the time, it's likely the bag appeared around 1998. We've contacted Abercrombie & Fitch seeking confirmation on the date and will update this piece if we hear back.
