In April 2026, a Snopes reader emailed us to present a humorous mystery, essentially asking whether a film company operating in the 1990s truly produced an animated musical movie titled "Pride & Prejudice: Dino Time!" The message read:
Every few months the r/janeausten subreddit gets a post about a supposed 1998 "Pride and Prejudice" adaptation called "Pride & Prejudice: Dino Time!" So far as we can tell, it's just an elaborate prank. But someone has even managed to get it posted on IMDb, so it is getting confusing to many in the community.
The reader's email included a link to a Reddit post (archived) on the r/janeausten subreddit — named for the author of the 1813 novel "Pride and Prejudice" — from user Stunning_Wrangler347, who shared a photo of an alleged VHS tape of the film. The user wrote, "Saw this at the thrift store and had to buy even though I don't have a VHS player."

In short, this rumor was false. Despite detailed listings on IMDb and Moviefone, numerous clues proved "Pride & Prejudice: Dino Time!" was an elaborate internet hoax.
Searches of Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo, as well as the Newspapers.com newspaper-archiving website, failed to find any forum threads, social media posts or webpages mentioning the alleged 1998 film's title prior to 2024. Further, no evidence in newspaper archives or online confirmed the existence of a Denver-based DJ and EDM artist named "Daldo" — whom the movie's end titles and VHS cover art credit with producing soundtrack music — or of an "Evangelical Video Alliance" organization with which he once purportedly partnered.
The Daldo Archive YouTube channel featured a supposed unfinished version of what its creator labeled in the channel's bio as a "lost" film. That video, uploaded in November 2024, displayed only one piece of artwork with a nearly hourlong musical soundtrack.
The same YouTube channel featured other music credited to "Daldo" for the similar hoax animated film "Christ-for-Arms," which first appeared online in 2021 (archived). KnowYourMeme.com reported comedian Alan Wagner was the "brainchild" behind the "Christ-for-Arms" gag, which centers around a boy with crosses for arms. The hoax film's VHS cover art displays the words, "They made fun of him… For his arms. They threw beans on him." Wagner, whom Paste magazine profiled in 2023, previously gave away (archived) a supposed copy of the film in one of his Patreon membership giveaways.
We contacted Wagner to ask about "Pride & Prejudice: Dino Time!," including to confirm he created the hoax movie, and will update this article if we receive further information.
Researching the 'Dino Time!' hoax
Aside from the aforementioned reasons, our research located numerous additional examples establishing "Pride & Prejudice: Dino Time!" as a recent hoax creation — as opposed to a "lost" 1990s animated movie.
The YouTube video with the unfinished product begins with three key pieces of information, including the company names "Feature Films for Families" and "Feature Films for Family," the phone number 800-347-2833 and a mailing address reading "5288 S Commerce Dr Ste B258 Millcreek, UT 84107."
That same phone number appeared in 1990s Utah newspaper ads for the now-closed independent studio Feature Films for Families, a real company the late Forrest Baker III founded to produce wholesome films. Whoever created the hoax movie mistakenly misspelled the company's name as "Feature Films for Family" about 17 seconds into the YouTube video.
Real estate professional Rick Bennion told Snopes by phone that Feature Films for Families once leased office space at the South Commerce Drive mailing address in the Utah city of Murray, not Millcreek. However, he confirmed the company's lease began in January 2004 — around five or six years after allegedly appearing in the opening of the unfinished 1998 movie.
Searches for the authentic Feature Films for Families mailing address located newspaper ads from 1997 mentioning the Utah city of Roy, not Millcreek or Murray.
Looking for additional clues
A YouTube community post (archived) on the Daldo Archive channel displayed a supposed photo of "Daldo" at work. Google's SynthID Detector, a tool that detects a special invisible watermark only found in Google-created AI images, found the image, or part of it, was edited or generated with Google's AI tools.
(Daldo Archive/YouTube)
An alleged "reconstructed" trailer for "Pride & Prejudice: Dino Time!" showed visuals from the 1939 animated movie "Gulliver's Travels."
The rabbit hole of Daldo Archive content included a wealth of additional content, including for example in the comments of the YouTube video, as well as the comments from a Reddit user who responded quite quickly to the aforementioned r/janeausten Reddit post. That Reddit user claimed no one had yet shared the finished movie online due to "a complicated copyright situation."
The 'Dino Time' plot
The IMDb page for "Pride & Prejudice: Dino Time!" featured the film's alleged plot, explaining how dinosaurs might stampede into the world of Austen's classic tale:
Pride and Prejudice Dino Time is an animated musical where dinosaurs mysteriously appear, disrupting life. Elizabeth meets Darcy at the Meryton Assembly, but a chaotic stampede of dinosaurs interrupts their conversation. The dinosaurs' arrival is the result of the sorcerer Mr. Wickham's vengeful plot to gain power through dark magic. He sends Elizabeth a letter blaming Darcy. Meanwhile, Mr. Collins, a dinosaur, proposes to Elizabeth, but she rejects him. Lady Catherine de Bourgh, a T-Rex under magical influence, confronts Elizabeth. Darcy arrives to save her. Wickham plans to send Lydia back in time through a magical portal. As the volcano erupts, Wickham and Lydia are sent to the past, and Mr. Collins follows. With danger averted, Elizabeth and Darcy confess their love. The movie ends at Pemberley Estate, now a sanctuary for redeemed dinosaurs, singing a joyful musical number.
