About this rating

In February 2026, numerous posts online claimed far-right political commentator Nick Fuentes said, if he were president, he would send women "to the gulags," referring to Soviet-era forced labor camps.

Many Snopes readers reached out to us, asking to confirm whether Fuentes actually said this and whether video footage showing him talking about sending women to the gulags was authentic or generated with artificial intelligence.

According to footage shared online, Fuentes purportedly said: "Women get sent to the gulags first, obviously. Which women? All women. Every woman. Every woman and girl is sent to the gulags. We will determine who the good ones are after the fact."

The video was not edited or manipulated by any AI tools. Fuentes did indeed make the above statement responding to a listener on the Feb. 11, 2026, episode of his show "America First." As such, we rate this claim as a correct attribution.

A recording of the show was available on the video platform Rumble. Fuentes responded to the question at the 4:37:16 mark in the episode, which can be viewed here (emphasis ours):

LISTENER: Who gets sent to the gulags first when you become president?

FUENTES: […] Women get sent to the gulags first, obviously. Which women? All women. Every woman. Every woman and girl is sent to the gulags. We will determine who the good ones are after the fact. Well, what about the good ones? What about the trad ones? First of all, there are no trad ones or good ones. Second of all, we will determine which ones are acceptable after they're all imprisoned. Then we will let them out.

You have to do it because those are our political enemies. You want to know our number — this is unironically just true. The No. 1 political enemy in America is women. Straight up, I'm just telling you. I'm telling it like it is. People might say it's Jews, it's Democrats, it's white liberals, it's leftists, it's the Chinese. Our No. 1 political enemy is women because women constrain everything, every conversation, every man, everything. They have to be imprisoned.

[…]

So just like Hitler imprisoned Gypsies, Jews, communists, you know, all of his political rivals, we have to do the same thing with women. And we'll sort it out. We'll find the good ones. They can prove themselves. Then we'll let 'em go.

So they go to the gulag first. They go to the breeding gulags. The good ones will be liberated. The bad ones will toil in the mines forever.

For further reading, Snopes has covered how Fuentes was banned from X, then known as Twitter, in 2021 and 2022 for repeatedly violating its rules, in one instance reportedly saying he loved Hitler during a Twitter Spaces audio discussion.
