In late June 2025, internet users claimed a widely circulated image showed private jet traffic from billionaire Jeff Bezos' multiday wedding celebration that took place (archived) in Venice,
For example, a post (archived) on X from June 29, captioned, "One would think the private jet traffic jam at Jeff Bezos' wedding should just about put a lid on celebrities preaching to the rest of us about global warming," received over 695,000 views and more than 39,000 likes as of this writing. The post included an image showing dozens of aircraft parked at an airport.
Several other X posts (archived, archived) made similar claims about the same image.
The image was miscaptioned.
While Snopes has not yet been able to confirm who took the photo, there was no evidence the image was the product of artificial intelligence software or other digital manipulation. Instead, the photo shows the Atlantic Aviation private jet terminal at Harry Reid International Airport (formerly McCarran International Airport) in Las Vegas before a May 2015 match between boxing legends Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
ESPN published (archived) a version of the photograph showing the same airport scene on May 2, 2015, in an article about private jets taking over the Las Vegas airport for the boxing match (archived). The image that circulated in June 2025 shared identifying features including a red car visible at the bottom right corner.
Multiple social media posts from May 2015 documented a similar scene. Former KTTV sports reporter Liz Habib posted (archived) a photo on Twitter (now known as X) from a similar location with the caption, "Private Jets at Las Vegas airport!!! Wing to wing- airport closed now to private planes #MayPac." Nick Woodhouse, president of Authentic Brands Group, posted (archived) the same photo on May 2, 2015, with the caption, "Private jet terminal in Vegas via @marcjay702", crediting an X user whose account was suspended (archived) at the time of this writing.
The desert environment and airport infrastructure visible in the image matched Harry Reid International Airport's layout and surroundings, which did not resemble the Italian coastal region around Venice.
