Watch out for fake video of Queen Camilla calling Trump 'arrogant and rude clown'

The footage was an AI-generated deepfake created using an interview Camilla gave BBC's Radio 4 in December 2025.

About this rating

In April and May 2026, a video circulated online supposedly showing the United Kingdom's Queen Camilla calling U.S. President Donald Trump an "arrogant and rude clown."

For example, an Instagram user shared the alleged footage on May 3. The caption read, "Queen Camilla described trump as an arrogant and rude clown, saying that he is the least respectful politician."

The clip also appeared on Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. Snopes readers contacted us to ask whether it was an authentic video of Camilla or a digital creation.

We first uploaded screenshots into Google Lens to perform a reverse image search. Next, we used search engines such as DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo with phrases such as "Queen Camilla arrogant rude clown" and "Camilla called Trump a rude clown."

If the scene in the video had occurred, journalists with reputable news outlets would have documented it — such comments would likely have led to a minor diplomatic spat, at the very least.

That was not the case. We did not locate any examples of credible outlets publishing the video, nor reporting on the alleged scene.

The video did not authentically show Camilla insulting Trump and was instead a deepfake generated with artificial intelligence, and we've labeled the video fake as a result.

The original source of the fake video was unknown. However, we were able to find the original footage used to create the deepfake of the queen. We also compared Camilla's voice in the clip with other recordings and found some discrepancies.

The video began with a clip of Camilla ostensibly calling Trump an "arrogant and rude clown" while sitting at a microphone that had the word "TODAY" and the number "4" on it.

Camilla spoke with the "Today" show while visiting the U.S. in April 2026, but that interview did not feature a visible microphone. Instead, we found that the BBC Radio 4 program "Today" had interviewed Camilla in December 2025, wearing the green outfit seen in the fake clip.

Following the deepfake, the video used various, authentic video clips of Camilla and Trump with a voiceover of the queen purportedly talking about how the president had disrespected the British monarchy during their state visit to the U.S. While the generative AI tools produced a relatively accurate version of Camilla's voice, there were a few artifacts (the end of the word "encountered" and the middle of the word "bilateral," for instance) in the audio that suggested it was not real.

Snopes has debunked similar pieces of media before. For example, we traced the source of a deepfaked video supposedly showing Trump falling asleep while sitting in the Oval Office in April 2026.
