About this rating

In February 2026, social media users spread rumors about a purported connection between American TV journalist Savannah Guthrie and Jeffrey Epstein based on supposed documentation in the 3 million-plus files related to the federal investigation into the late sex offender that the U.S. Department of Justice released the previous month.

According to these claims, Guthrie's husband, Michael Feldman, was implicated in the files because the documents named his company, FGS Global, as one of Epstein's co-conspirators.

The rumor spread on X and Facebook. Many of these posts used the same language and attempted to link the Feb. 1 disappearance and possible abduction of Nancy Guthrie, Guthrie's mother, to Feldman's supposed links to the Epstein files.

As of this writing, Feldman is, indeed, a North American co-chairman and partner of FGS Global. However, a search for "FGS Global" in the Epstein files released by the DOJ returned no results.

An additional search for Feldman's name returned only an email sent by a Michael Feldman who self-identified as a "theoretical physicist," and thus was likely not the same person as Guthrie's husband, who seems to have no background in theoretical physics. (It's also worth noting being mentioned in the files does not automatically mean criminal wrongdoing.)

As such, we have rated this claim false.

This rumor appeared to originate from an X account run by someone named Paul White Gold Eagle, who markets himself as a spiritual practitioner and teacher — not as a reporter or a credible source for coverage of the Epstein files.

The user did not immediately return a request from Snopes for confirmation that he first shared this rumor online and more information on how he reached his conclusions about Guthrie.

A search for Guthrie's name in the available Epstein files returned only two results, both related to her reporting for NBC's "Today" show aimed at unveiling the extent of Epstein's relationships and crimes.

Feldman-related mentions don't implicate him

While there's no mention of FGS Global in the Epstein files, The Glover Park Group — a company that later merged with other companies to become FGS Global — was mentioned twice in the files. Feldman helped found Glover Park Group in 2001. The firm didn't merge into FGS Global until 2021, two years after Epstein died.

Neither mention of The Glover Park Group implicated Feldman or the company in any conspiracy with Epstein.

The first mention came from a 2014 email via the office of Terje Rød-Larsen, a former Norwegian diplomat and politician, who shared a list of articles with Epstein, one of which mentioned The Glover Park Group's work lobbying for Egypt.

The second mention came from a 2015 email forwarded by former U.S. Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, who suggested that Epstein contact Joe Lockhart, a founding partner of The Glover Park Group and press secretary during former President Bill Clinton's administration. The initial email Summers forwarded, from a woman named Kelly Friendly — presumably, the wife of Andrew Friendly, one of Clinton's aides — said Lockhart "helped" Clinton and former CIA director Gen. David Petraeus. (Petraeus resigned in 2012 after the media uncovered an extramarital affair.)
