Context

Trump did not write the claim himself. He reposted it from another Truth Social user without comment. The post explicitly stated that Biden was "executed in 2020" and replaced by "clones doubles & robotic engineered soulless mindless entities."

In late May and early June 2025, a claim spread on social media that U.S. President Donald Trump re-shared a post claiming former U.S. President Joe Biden was executed in 2020 and replaced by clones. The rumor spread weeks after Biden publicly disclosed a diagnosis of Stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer and Trump wished him "a fast and successful recovery."

For instance, the broadcast journalist, liberal political commentator and sportscaster Keith Olbermann wrote on May 31, 2025:

Breaking: Well, we're finally here

Trump has jumped the shark and just posted that Biden was "executed" and "cloned" in 2020

The 25th Amendment would seem to be mandatory

Sunday shows: ask GOP guests if they think Biden was cloned and executed??‍♂️

Other users echoed similar reactions. One widely shared post stated, "Donald Trump, more detached from reality than ever, just shared an unhinged QAnon post saying former President Biden was executed in 2020 and replaced by clones." QAnon is a conspiracy movement based on interpreting cryptic messages from anonymous figures on internet forums. (You can learn more about QAnon here.) Snopes also received multiple reader inquiries about the matter.

News outlets including The New York Times and NBC News also reported on Trump's alleged social media post.

At the same time, some social media users expressed skepticism, questioning whether the post was authentic or if Trump had really re-shared it.

However, Trump did in fact re-share (archived) a post (archived) from another Truth Social user that read: "There is no #JoeBiden - executed in 2020. #Biden clones doubles & robotic engineered soulless mindless entities are what you see. >#Democrats dont know the difference." Therefore, we have rated this claim as true.

The claims that Biden was executed and replaced by body doubles, clones or robots, were entirely unfounded and not supported by any credible evidence.

We have reached out to Trump's representatives to inquire about whether Trump endorsed the claims that Biden was "executed in 2020" and replaced by "clones doubles & robotic engineered soulless mindless entities." We will update this report if we receive a response.

On May 31, 2025, Donald Trump re-shared the in-question post on his official Truth Social account (@realDonaldTrump). That post, from another Truth Social user, claimed there was "no Joe Biden" as he was "executed in 2020." As of this writing, the original poster's account had more than 6,300 followers, up from around 2,750 on June 1, 2025.

Trump did not add any comment to the repost. As of this writing, Trump's repost had over 14,800 shares and over 38,400 likes.

The post Trump re-shared was itself a reply to another post (archived) reading, "Babylon Bee: Biden Family Worried They May Be Running Out Of Time To Exploit Joe Biden's Health." The post referenced an article shared on the website dinnertopics.wordpress.com and originally published on May 22, 2025, by The Babylon Bee, a conservative-leaning website known for its fictional news stories.

Trump's repost quickly fueled a wave of speculation and unfounded rumors suggesting that Biden was no longer alive. For example, one viral post falsely claimed that "Joe Biden was NEVER President" and "Actors with masks and AI played Joe." It ended with the line, "Now do Hillary, and many, many more."

A screenshot of Trump's repost also circulated alongside theories about the presidential autopen, a mechanical device used to sign documents on a president's behalf. Some users cited its use as supposed "proof" that Biden was not acting independently or was no longer alive. We thoroughly addressed the claims about Biden's alleged use of autopen in a separate article.
