Trump purportedly posted:

Happy Mother's Day to ALL, in particular the Mothers, Wives and Lovers of the Radical Left Fascists, Marxists, and Communists who are doing everything within their power to destroy and obliterate our once great Country. Please make these complete Lunatics and Maniacs Kinder, Gentler, Softer and, most importantly, Smarter, so that we can, quickly, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!

For example, users shared the supposed Trump post screenshot in May on Facebook (archived), Threads (archived) and X (archived).

In short, Trump truly posted (archived) the message on May 14, 2023.

At the time of the posting — prior to voters electing him to a second presidential term — he faced several investigations, including cases related to classified documents federal agents recovered at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida and 2020 election interference, as well as other court matters in Georgia, New York state and New York City.

Snopes first investigated the authenticity of the post in 2023.

Trump's 2026 Mother's Day post

Because screenshots of the 2023 post largely didn't include a date, some users who wondered whether it was real may have been confused in part because Trump's Truth Social account shared (archived) a different Mother's Day message just prior to the holiday in 2026. In that post, he touted a new jobs report and accusing most "Bloomberg economists" of having "a 'Terminal' case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME!"

His 2026 post also referenced the Federal Reserve chair as "Jerome 'Too Late and Won't Leave' Powell" and featured the phrase "the America Hating Democrat Party." He closed out the message with, "Happy Mother's Day and, know that, we are MAKING AMERICA WEALTHY AND SAFE AGAIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP."

For further reading, we previously investigated a rumor claiming Trump once said in a speech to "never hurt your mother" and to "never disrespect her."
