About this rating

What's True

A journalist spotted a McDonald's truck in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during Trump's visit to the country.

What's Undetermined

We found no evidence that the Saudi government or McDonald's brought the truck in just for Trump. The journalist who recorded the original video spotted the truck at the "Media Oasis" media event during Trump's visit.

In May 2025, as U.S. President Donald Trump toured the Middle East, claims (archived) circulated that Saudi Arabia provided a mobile McDonald's food truck for the president's visit.

The claims stemmed from a video (archived) recorded (archived) by Mike Wagenheim, a journalist with the Israeli outlet i24NEWS.

The video showed a McDonald's-branded food truck in Riyadh, according to Wagenheim.

Claims about the purpose of the truck circulated on Facebook (archived), Reddit (archived) and TikTok (archived).

However, while the video was authentic (meaning not generated by artificial intelligence), we found no evidence that either the Saudi government or the McDonald's Corporation commissioned the food truck specifically for Trump. The truck appeared at the "Media Oasis," an event organized by the Saudi Ministry of Media for journalists covering Trump's visit. Therefore, we rate this claim a mixture of true and undetermined elements.

Some reports cited a White House official who reportedly confirmed that the truck sighting in Riyadh was real, but did not comment on the truck's purpose.

We reached out to the White House to confirm the reported statement. We also reached out to McDonald's in Saudi Arabia to ask about the truck's purpose. We await replies to our queries.

The original video, posted by Wagenheim on his X account, showed a mobile McDonald's food truck at the Media Oasis event hosted at Riyadh's Green Hall sports complex, according to spa.gov, a Saudi government-owned news agency. A building with similar features to that seen in Wagenheim's video (green roof with vertical dividers over a yellow wall) appeared in a geotagged image on Google Maps. Wagenheim said on X that he recorded the video.

We found no evidence that the Saudi government or McDonald's itself commissioned the mobile McDonald's food truck just for Trump. The Media Oasis event was aimed at journalists, according to Saudi media

There was no indication from the Saudi Ministry of Media social media profiles or reports on Trump's visit that the president appeared at the Media Oasis event or ate food from the venue.

Though it is unlikely Trump got food from the particular McDonald's truck in Wagenheim's video, the president has long dined at the fast food chain, which also featured in his 2024 reelection campaign.

Snopes has previously reported on claims around Trump's campaign trail appearance at a Pennsylvania McDonald's, whether Kamala Harris worked at McDonald's, and whether Trump adviser Elon Musk said he would buy the fast food chain.
