Editor's note: Turning Point USA announced counterprogramming to the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show following the initial publication of this report, archived here.

Following the National Football League's announcement of Grammy Award-winning artist Bad Bunny as the halftime performer for the 2026 Super Bowl, rumors circulated online in early October 2025 that Turning Point USA, a conservative nonprofit organization founded by the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, would produce an alternative show.

Users shared the claim on Instagram (archived), Facebook (archived) and X (archived), with some posting an image of Bad Bunny along with the text, "Mind you, Bad Bunny is both a Christian (Catholic) and an American (from Puerto Rico)."

The widespread nature of the claim led many Snopes readers to send emails asking for the truth behind the rumor.

The rumor that Turning Point USA announced counterprogramming to the 2026 Super Bowl halftime was true.

The organization announced "The All American Halftime Show" on its social media platforms and launched a website for the event on Oct. 9, 2025. The website promoted the event as "celebrating faith, family, and freedom."

The announcement did not reveal any other information, such as who will perform. Early rumors alleged the event would feature "Christian American performers" without hard evidence to substantiate the claim.

Andrew Kolvet, a spokesperson for Turning Point, told Snopes via email:

Turning Point USA is thrilled to host "The All American Halftime Show" where we will celebrate faith, family, and freedom. Already, within hours of making the announcement, this has been one of the most instantaneous and overwhelming responses to an event in our organization's history. This is clearly something the country wanted to see happen, and we're excited to deliver. We look forward to uniting the country around the timeless American values that make this the greatest country in the world.

The pre-announcement chatter

Before Turning Point announced the show, rumors about it swirled.

They stemmed from "The Charlie Kirk Show" and Turning Point contributor Jack Posobiec posting to X (archived) on Sept. 29, 2025, "Sure would be a shame if @TPUSA hosted a counter-Superbowl halftime show with Creed."

Posobiec's association with Kirk's content appeared to instigate the rumor, which he then promoted on various podcast appearances after the fact.

On the Oct. 1 episode of "The Charlie Kirk Show," co-host Andrew Kolvet addressed the rumor and said, "I am getting multiple inquiries from the media right now saying, 'I would like a comment on if Turning Point is planning a competing halftime show with Creed, and I was like, 'Well, I wasn't …'"

Posobiec added, "By the way, I did not have permission from Turning Point USA to tweet that." (The full exchange can be seen on YouTube around the 7:25 mark.)

Posobiec reiterated that his post was unsanctioned on the Oct. 6, 2025, episode of conservative commentator Tim Pool's podcast "Timcast IRL." He said, "I had this tweet that went pretty viral that I definitely did not have Turning Point approval for, about should Turning Point hold an alternative halftime show to Bad Bunny? And what if we got Creed to perform?"

He explained the organization had been getting a lot of inquiries from the media as well as other artists, and that he had "no announcements" to make, but said it wasn't out of the question and said, "We're at the conversation point." (The statement can be seen on YouTube around the 1:58:00 mark.)

The Super Bowl is scheduled to take place on Feb. 8, 2026, at the San Francisco 49ers' stadium in Santa Clara, California.
