In mid-February 2026, a rumor spread online that the White House posted an image that said "DADDY'S HOME" on a candy heart, in an apparent reference to U.S. President Donald Trump.
The claim spread on X, Threads and Facebook, alongside a screenshot of the aforementioned picture.
The official White House Facebook, Instagram and X accounts did, in fact, post a picture on Valentine's Day featuring a candy heart that said "DADDY'S HOME." As such, we have rated this claim true.
The image also included candy hearts with "MAGA" and "LOVE" on them. The caption of each post read "Send to your Valentine." Here's one of those posts:
Each post could be found on the White House's official accounts, as indicated by the account's blue verified checkmarks on Facebook and Instagram, as well as a grey checkmark on X, which references a verified "governmental or multilateral organization account."
The White House did not immediately respond to a request to explain the reasoning behind the post, which many social media users found inappropriate due to the sexual connotations the word "daddy" can sometimes have.
The post appeared to reference a meme in which Trump supporters call him "daddy." According to progressive news website Salon, the meme appeared to take off in October 2024, when conservative commentator Tucker Carlson compared Trump to a father returning home and giving a "vigorous spanking" to his "daughter" — in this analogy, America.
The White House has previously leaned into the nickname, such as by posting a June 2025 video of someone making a "DADDY'S HOME" T-shirt design featuring Trump. The video came after NATO Chief Mark Rutte referred to Trump as "daddy" while comparing the conflict between Iran and Israel to two children fighting. As of this writing, the Trump store sells a "Daddy" T-shirt with a stylized version of Trump's mugshot on it.
Snopes has previously fact-checked other real posts from the White House, including a parody MySpace page and a depiction of Trump as a Minecraft character.
