In July 2025, a photo circulated online that purportedly showed WNBA star Caitlin Clark wearing a T-shirt that had the words "I deserve NBA money" printed on it.
For example, multiple (archived) Instagram users shared (archived) the picture, amassing thousands of likes on their posts.
The image also appeared on Facebook (archived) and Threads (archived).
Some people seemed to believe the photo authentically showed Clark wearing a T-shirt demanding she be paid an NBA salary. However, a Google search produced no evidence that she did.
Rather, the picture originated from an NBACentel post (archived) viewed more than 57 million times as of this writing. NBACentel is an X account that describes its content as parody. Its bio states: "Featured on @ESPN, @BarstoolSports, @SINoW, @FoxSports, @ComplexSports | PARODY Account. NOT Affiliated with @TheDunkCentral."
NBACentel posted the image on July 19, the night of the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game. Photos on Getty Images showed that before the game commenced, the participating players, including Clark, actually wore identical T-shirts that had the words "Pay us what you owe us" printed on them
Snopes has addressed satirical claims shared by NBACentel in the past, including a rumor regarding a fabricated LeBron James quote about music mogul Diddy in September 2024. Snopes has also addressed numerous claims regarding Clark.
