Cam Newton Injured in Car Crash

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was injured in a car crash.

On 9 December 2014, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was injured in a car crash near the team's stadium in Charlotte:

One witness told the Charlotte Observer Newton's truck flipped several times after it collided with a Buick Sedan at the intersection of Church and Hill Street. Another witness, Joshua Wrona, said the truck never flipped:



Shortly after the crash the Carolina Panthers posted a message on Twitter saying their QB was in fair condition:

Cam Newton is in fair condition and undergoing tests at Carolinas Medical Center and will remain there overnight for observation.

Unfortunately, Newton's injuries were more serious than the team initially believed. According to the Panther's official Twitter account, the former No. 1 draft pick suffered two transverse processes fractures in his lower back:

Further testing revealed that Cam Newton has two transverse process fractures in his lower back and no further internal injuries.
