In April and May 2024, rap fans witnessed one of the biggest rap feuds of the 21st century: Drake, a mainstay at the top of the Billboard charts since 2010, traded verbal blows with Kendrick Lamar, whose verses saw him win a Pulitzer Prize in 2018. Many (albeit not all) commentators and fans concluded that Lamar won the feud. In the months following, Drake made numerous efforts to get back at Lamar, including suing his rival's music label on the allegation that it had artificially inflated his streams.

In December 2024, social media users claimed that Drake had bought out the floor seats for Lamar's two June 2025 concerts in Toronto — Drake's hometown. Examples of the rumor appeared on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

Snopes has reached out to representatives for the two rappers and will update this article if they respond. However, there was no credible evidence to support the claim, and none of the posts sharing the rumor provided sources for the accusation.

Ticketmaster's pages for Lamar's two Toronto shows showed that only resale tickets were available for the "Energy Floor" section (as of this writing), which is standing-room only. However, there were seats available in the seated section of the floor. If the claim includes both the standing and seated sections of the floor, then it is definitively false.

In addition, it would have also been difficult for Drake to buy out the standing-room-only section without substantial help. The "More Info" section of the ticket page noted that only six tickets could be purchased per person and per credit card. According to Ticketmaster's help page, those limits are set by event organizers. Drake would have to pull some strings with Ticketmaster in order to work around that restriction. No credible news outlets have reported on Drake taking such drastic action.

Additionally, the claim stated that Lamar released a link allowing fans to come to the Toronto shows for free in response to Drake's alleged deed. However, there was no evidence of such a link on any of Lamar's official social media pages or websites.

Lamar also hasn't stayed quiet about his beef with Drake. For instance, he made a callback to the feud when announcing he was playing the 2025 Super Bowl. He announced a tour with R&B artist SZA alongside the surprise drop of his latest album, "GNX" — notably featuring a performance at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. He later added a second date in Toronto.

In sum, it's likely that the claim was made up for the purpose of gaining clicks or views online. Despite the fact that there was no evidence to support the rumor, the idea could seem believable because of Drake's previous actions against Lamar.
