A rumor circulating online in early March 2025 claimed influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were in talks with Netflix for a reality series about their lives, and that the Los Angeles Times had reported on the matter. Readers inquired about this rumor, with one person emailing, "Can you please fact check about Netflix producing a documentary with the Tate Brothers?"

However, no demonstrable evidence existed to confirm the rumor about the Tates participating in talks with Netflix. As of March 4, the claim remained unfounded, with the Tates dedicating their time to "Tate Confidential," a reality series hosted on the Rumble video platform. Further, Los Angeles Times' senior communications manager Alison Farias confirmed via email that their publication never printed any such reporting.

Updates will appear with this story should Netflix or the Tate brothers respond to requests for comment.

The origins of the rumor

On March 1, 2025, X user @INSECURITYsol posted two photos showing Andrew Tate and a Netflix logo. The post (archived) read, "?#BREAKING LA Times: Andrew & Tristan Tate in advanced talks with Netflix for a reality series on their life and ventures, unconfirmed. Sources say the deal is 'near-finalized' but not signed yet, huge potential ahead for the Tate brothers ?." The post received over 400,000 views.

Three days later, the same user posted (archived) a similar rumor, though without the mention of the Los Angeles Times, and again with no evidence.

X user @INSECURITYsol has not yet responded to a direct message on X asking for evidence to support the above claims.

Charges against the Tate brothers

Some users expressed opinions about such a streaming series, apparently in connection with the fact that Romanian prosecutors charged the Tates in 2022 with human trafficking, among other offenses. They also charged Andrew Tate with rape.

The brothers arrived in the U.S. — specifically Fort Lauderdale, Florida — on Feb. 27, 2025, after authorities lifted travel restrictions affecting the pair.

The Associated Press reported that Andrew Tate said, upon arrival in Florida, "We live in a democratic society where it's innocent until proven guilty. And I think my brother and I are largely misunderstood. There's a lot of opinions about us, things that go around about us on the internet."

Florida AG launches investigation into Tate brothers

On March 4, Forrest Saunders, a Florida state Capitol reporter for the E.W. Scripps Company, reported news of newly appointed Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier confirming an "active criminal investigation" against both Andrew and Tristan Tate, referencing allegations of "soliciting, trafficking [and] preying upon women."

"People can spin or defend however they want, but in Florida, this type of behavior is viewed as atrocious," Uthmeier said. "We're not going to accept it. They chose to come here and set their feet down in this state, and we're going to pursue every tool we have within our legal authority to hold them accountable."

"So, we are in the process today, we have secured and executed subpoenas and warrants, and we're going to continue to move forward with full force of law. This is an ongoing criminal investigation, and we're going to use every tool we have to ensure that justice is served."

Andrew Tate responded to the news on X, saying, in part, "I didn't commit any crime and they're trying to find one because they don't like me." As of this writing, Tristan Tate had not yet posted about the matter.
