In February 2026, a claim (archived) circulated online that a JetBlue flight attendant thanked U.S. President Donald Trump and his Cabinet for their work during a Presidents Day flight.
The claim stemmed from Threads user James Weir, whose initial Feb. 16 post read:
@jetblue The fact that the pilot or flight attendant chose to begin the flight by specifically thanking President Trump and his cabinet for all that they do means this will be the last time I choose your airline.
In a follow-up post, Weir clarified that a flight attendant supposedly made the announcement.
Weir's initial post also circulated on Facebook (archived), Instagram (archived) and Bluesky (archived). Snopes readers wrote in, asking whether the claim was true.
Weir wrote on Threads that the alleged announcement occurred on JetBlue Flight 2010 from Los Angeles International Airport to Palm Beach International Airport in Florida. The timestamps on his initial post about the announcement and his follow-up post after landing aligned with the known departure and arrival times (archived) for that flight on Presidents Day.

Details of alleged announcement
Weir sent Snopes a screenshot of a boarding pass that showed his seat on Flight 2010.
Speaking by phone on Feb. 18, he said the announcement occurred before the flight left Los Angeles. Weir said he did not have a recording of the moment.
Weir said he could not recall the exact wording of the flight attendant's announcement, but he remembered hearing Trump's name and a mention of his Cabinet. He found that unusual, given that Presidents Day does not generally celebrate sitting presidents. He said passengers around him also took note of the mention of the Trump administration.
Weir then recounted what he wrote on Threads: that he spoke to a flight attendant during the flight who said that the "No. 1," or lead, flight attendant had decided to make the announcement on their own. The flight attendant Weir spoke to allegedly said later that they had spoken to the lead flight attendant and asked them not to make the same announcement on the return flight to Los Angeles.
Weir said JetBlue had not contacted him following his Threads post, which had more than 600,000 views at the time of this writing. He added that he tried to file a formal complaint on Feb. 17 but was unable to reach an employee.
