In March 2026, a claim (archived) circulated online that U.S. President Donald Trump's presidential library and museum would contain a large, golden statue of Trump.

One X user who shared an image of the alleged statue wrote, "Not a parody, not a comedy show item. Donald Trump has designed for his Presidential Library main hall, as its highlight, a 10m tall golden statue of himself."

The claim about the statue and its image also circulated across Facebook (archived), Instagram (archived), Threads (archived) and Bluesky (archived).

The image of the large, golden statue of Trump with his fist raised in the air first appeared in a video (archived) that Trump shared on Truth Social on March 30. The video was an architectural visualization of Trump's presidential library and museum. According to an X post (archived) from one of the president's sons, Eric Trump, the building would be located in Miami, Florida.

The preview video did not show an existing building. It was unclear how closely the actual Donald J. Trump Presidential Library and Museum would match the video released in March 2026. Therefore, we leave this claim unrated.

We contacted the Trump Organization and the Trump library foundation to ask about whether the statue would feature in the final building and await replies to our queries.

Bermello Ajamil, the architecture firm the video credits for the design, said in an emailed statement it could not provide any additional project details.

Architects create visualizations of planned buildings in various ways that include photoshop and 3D modeling.

It appeared whoever created the video Trump posted had used artificial intelligence to do so. The video carried classic signs of the use of AI including a U.S. flag with 56 stars, garbled text and people with missing fingers or misshapen hands.

While speaking to reporters on March 31, Trump told (archived) reporters, "I don't believe in building libraries or museums," despite the building's proposed name.

Trump instead speculated that the building "could be an office, but it's most likely going to be a hotel with a beautiful building underneath and a 747 Air Force One in the lobby, which is going to be a trick."

According to the Office of Presidential Libraries, U.S. presidents usually designate a presidential archival depository (a physical location) to house the archival records of their presidency.

At the time of this writing there were 16 presidential libraries, spanning from former U.S. presidents Herbert Hoover to Joe Biden, according to the office.

Snopes has previously reported on the jet that Trump reportedly planned to put in his presidential library, which was originally a gift from the nation of Qatar.
