In May 2026, social media users shared a video that appeared to show U.S. President Donald Trump dancing while a group of high school-age students, including dancers or cheerleaders and a pep band, performed for him.

Users claimed Trump had arranged for the girls, who they identified as being 16 years old, to give him a "private dance." A May 4 Threads post (archived) featured the video with a caption that read, in part, "Trump arranged for a group of 16 year old HS girls to come give him a private dance at his resort." Users shared similar captions on Facebook (archived), Instagram (archived), TikTok (archived) and YouTube (archived).

Others posted the clip with different captions, including a Reddit user referencing (archived) the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein with the text, "Just some teenage girls performing for the Epstein Protector."

In sum, while the video is authentic, it has been shared out of context alongside several unsubstantiated claims.

The clip did not feature any signs of artificial intelligence or other digital editing means. No available evidence proved users' claims that Trump personally arranged the high schoolers' dance at one of his private golf clubs, or their suggestions that he watched it in a predatory or sexual manner.

A White House spokesperson's said in an emailed statement to Snopes that a group of people, including Trump, watched the performance, disputing claims that this was a "private dance" for the president. However, we were unable to independently verify who was present apart from Trump.

Margo Martin, who serves as a special assistant to the president and communications adviser, originally shared the video recorded at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Feb. 11, 2024 — the day of that year's Super Bowl. Her X post did not mention the name of the high school, reading, "President @realDonaldTrump is greeted by local high school band at Trump International Golf Course prior to Super Bowl kickoff!!"

Trump watched other school band performances ahead of previous Super Bowls, including displays by Florida Atlantic University and Palm Beach Central High School.

Snopes sent several questions to the White House via email, including inquiries about the organization of the performances. In response, a spokesperson said Martin's original post explained the event, adding that users had taken the video out of context and attacked the students performing for a group of people that included Trump.

We contacted Trump International Golf Club to ask about the invitation process for the pre-Super Bowl performances and officials with Palm Beach Central High School — whose marching band performed at Trump's club in 2017 — to inquire whether the 2024 video featured their school. We will update this story if we receive responses.

Researching the video

On May 5, a reader posting on the Snopes Tips Facebook group shared the video and asked, "True? I got this from a reliable page."

A reverse image search for the clip's keyframes located numerous posts containing the video, including Martin's original X post. The search found reposts from May 2026 and older posts from February 2024 — including from the conservative news media outlets Breitbart and Fox News.

For example, Fox News' Instagram post (archived) displayed the caption, "BUSTING A MOVE: Donald Trump breaks out into dance as local high school cheerleaders and a marching band greet him at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach.

Further searches of Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo located reports, photos and videos documenting past student band performances ahead of other Super Bowls. In 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2020, Florida Atlantic University's marching band performed at Trump's golf club. The Palm Beach Central High School marching band also played for Trump in 2017. Some photos and videos showed first lady Melania Trump attending some of those performances.

For example, a video from Florida Atlantic University's 2019 performance showed Donald Trump listening to the band, greeting band members and cheerleaders, and taking group pictures.

For further reading, we previously investigated whether a video truly showed a younger Trump with a mullet hairstyle dancing on the TV show "Soul Train."
