Emery Winter is a Snopes reporter from Virginia Beach, Virginia, who now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. They graduated from Queens University of Charlotte with a bachelor's degree in journalism and a minor in sports communications. They started their career working as a freelance esports reporter and fact-checking for VERIFY, TEGNA's national fact-checking platform, before joining the Snopes team in June 2025. In their free time, Emery enjoys playing video games, watching animated movies and television, cheering for bad sports teams, thinking about getting back into bowling and participating in many other nerdy hobbies.
