Claim spread California Democrats bought pallets of bricks for LA protesters. We checked campaign finance records

On June 6, 2025, people in Los Angeles began to protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids after mass arrests of immigrants suspected to be living in the U.S. illegally. The next day, U.S. President Donald Trump signed a memorandum ordering 2,000 National Guard troops to the city. Trump later doubled the amount — as well as ordered 700 Marines to L.A. — on June 9. At the time of this writing, California's lawsuit against Trump's deployment of the National Guard is in front of an appeals court that delayed an order that would have transferred control of the guard back to the state on June 13.
Snopes has fact-checked many claims that have spread related to the protests, such as whether videos show a man committing several acts of violence, whether the California Democratic Party bought pallets of bricks for LA protesters (originated as satire ), and whether a Craigslist ad proved the protests were orchestrated.
