On April 2, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump announced Pam Bondi's time as head of the U.S. Department of Justice was ending. "We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector," Trump wrote on Truth Social .
The attorney general's ouster followed months of scrutiny over the DOJ's handling of the files on deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and Trump's reported frustration with her leadership.
In a statement (archived ) on April 2, Bondi reiterated her allegiance to Trump, stating she would "continue fighting" for Trump in her private sector role.
