On June 5, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump and former adviser Elon Musk got into an intense, public online feud. Musk posted on his social media platform, X, that Trump's name appeared in government files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and that's why those files remain unreleased. In turn, Trump suggested on his own social media platform, Truth Social, that canceling Musk's government contracts would be the "easiest" way to save money in the federal budget.
