A rumor circulated online claiming that U.S. President Donald Trump compared the historic trade agreement reached between the European Union (EU) and India on Jan. 27, 2026, to a "high school science project" in a Truth Social post.
For example, X account @wokeflix posted the claim (archived) in January 2026, captioned "About time." According to the post, Trump allegedly wrote:
I'm hearing "Lying" Ursula and the India group are signing the so-called "Mother of All Deals." SO CUTE! They're playing house while I'm running the neighborhood. Everyone knows there is only one DADDY in the room, and he's currently sitting in the Oval Office making America RICH again! The EU is so broke they had to beg for a "Mother" probably because they can't pay their own bills! I told India: "You want a deal? Pay the 50% Daddy Tax (Tariffs!) first." Now they're running to Brussels? GOOD LUCK! It's a total disaster waiting to happen. My deals are massive, they're physical, they're GORGEOUS. Their deal looks like a high school science project. Enjoy your little "Mother" deal, folks. Daddy is busy winning!

Variations of the rumor spread on other X accounts (archived, archived, archived) and Reddit (archived), receiving millions of views.
Some readers seemed to interpret the rumor as a factual recounting of real-life events. However, a review of Trump's Truth — an archive of Trump's Truth Social posts — found no evidence that he posted the alleged statement (archived). A search returned no results for the quote, "Their deal looks like a high school science project."

Rather, the rumor about Trump comparing the pact to a high school science project originated with Wokeflix — a social media account that describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature. Apart from the watermark on the image clarifying its satirical intent, the account's bio (archived) states:
Don't take me seriously. Everything I post is mostly true. Bad art. Worse jokes. Best satire
The fictional story spread as the U.S. hiked tariffs on both India and the EU. In a virtual address, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly said the deal between the EU and India "represents 25% of the global GDP and one-third of global trade."
As of this writing, Trump had not publicly reacted to the deal, which reportedly took more than two decades of negotiations to reach.
Snopes has addressed similarly fake or satirical claims about alleged Trump posts, including the assertion that he said the U.S. would annex Alaska and Greenland and a rumor that he called teachers "ugly."
For background, here is why we alert readers to rumors created by sources that call their output humorous or satirical.
