In late 2024, a video circulated of a very young Barron Trump, the son of U.S. President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, in which his Slovenian accent was audible (Slovenian was Melania Trump's native language). The video inspired multiple news outlets to report on what languages Barron Trump was supposedly fluent in, but the reports were inconsistent and Snopes was unable to independently verify them.
On social media, one X post (archived) that gained more than 2.3 million views and 90,000 likes as of this writing claimed he had "mastered" Slovenian, French, Italian and German. Another popular X post (archived) claimed he spoke five languages, and at least one news outlet claimed he spoke three.

Though he has always been private compared to his other family members, Melania Trump told talk show host Larry King in 2010 that Barron Trump, who was then 4 years old, spoke three languages (at 00:27). However, she did not specify which three languages he spoke.
Approximately 10 years later, Melania Trump interviewed with People Magazine ahead of the 2016 presidential election. She briefly mentioned that Barron Trump was bilingual. The article read:
Aside from that 2010 interview, we found no mention that Barron Trump speaks more than two languages. It is also important to note that there is no public footage of him speaking any language other than English.
More recently, in 2020, Mary Jordan, an associate editor for The Washington Post, published an unauthorized biography of Melania Trump titled "The Art of Her Deal." In an interview with CBS's Tracy Smith, Jordan shared that Melania Trump, her parents and Barron Trump all speak Slovenian to each other. The interaction was as follows:
Jordan said, "So, Barron Trump speaks Slovenian, is very close to the father. Both her parents spend huge amount of times in the White House, living there. There's a unit within the family unit, and it's Melania, her mother, her father and Barron. And they all speak Slovenian. And it's kind of interesting: the Secret Service has no idea what they're saying."
"And Donald Trump doesn't have a good idea of what they're saying a lot of the time when they're speaking Slovenian?" said Smith.
"No. And he has said it annoys him sometimes, 'cause he has no idea what they're saying."
In sum, while there is no public evidence of Barron Trump speaking any language other than English, Melania Trump has publicly stated that he is at least bilingual — and at one point said he spoke three languages. A journalist also claimed that Barron Trump spoke Slovenian, although this anecdote is unverified.
