U.S. President Donald Trump marked 100 days of his second term in office on April 29, 2025.
Since returning to the White House, Trump has signed a flurry of executive orders , instituted — then paused — sweeping global tariffs, pursued aggressive anti-immigration policies, railed against diversity, equity and inclusion, and worked to reshape the federal government .
His administration's whirlwind actions often left reporters scrambling to cover a White House hostile to legacy media and that was, at times , prone to contradicting itself. Furthermore, many actions undertaken by the executive branch saw challenges in the courts, compelling us to publish update after update on certain stories as legal cases evolved.
At Snopes, we often found ourselves writing numerous explainers without straightforward fact-check ratings due to the complexity of these stories — see, for example, our article breaking down the effects of Trump's directives on cancer research.
Trump's unprecedented moves in his first few months also meant that many people online found it easy to believe false rumors about what was happening in the Oval Office. For example, we debunked claims that the president signed an executive order to end food stamps and that he permitted teachers to "physically discipline" students.
At the same time, though, people sometimes found actual decisions made by the president to be unbelievable. For instance, we verified the fact that Trump placed tariffs on an island inhabited only by penguins and other wildlife and determined that Trump did, in fact, reverse an effort by the previous administration to lower prescription drug prices for people on Medicare.
Below, we list just 25 of the numerous rumors we have fact-checked about Trump since his return to office on Jan. 20, 2025.
